barberch
Looking to use this trail on Tuesday but concerned about the amount of road running. Is there a trail in the ditch or is is pure road run? How far is the road run? Should we just avaiod it?

Mossy
I'm glad someone else chimed in. My BIL wasn't over that way this weekend. Sorry I couldn't provide any details for you.
gobills
Ok so once you cross 35 at scotch line you will see a trail in the ditch on your left take that and follow the goat path to Mountain Lake. You will see a beaten path toward the island. Stay away from the North East side of the lake once you pass the Island. Once near the end of the lake you will go to the left and cross 35 and follow Taylor road for about 2-kms and look for a path on your right and its about a 100 yards to 12 mile lake and take that to the end and your are basically in Carnarvon which is the B trail. Let me know if you need anymore help.
jrhz06
We don't have a lot of snow this year on the Haliburton trails but overall they're in pretty good condition all things considered. However, the low snow amount doesn't help trails like trail 4 that have a lot of road running. I haven't been on trail 4 this year but I would bet that it isn't very good.(I don't use trail 4 even on a good snow year but thats just me) If you want to get from Minden to the B northbound then Gobills suggestion of using Mountain and 12 Mile lakes would be your best bet. The other option is to use the B112 from Minden to the rail trail and go through Haliburton. B112 is usually a really nice ride. Hopefully the B112 north crossing hwy 118 opens soon as thats a great way to get north.
livin' on the b103
looks like I'm late to the party, rode the # 4 yesterday with a group and the trail has been moved to address some of the road running. Just got off the phone with the groomer and trail #4 was on his run tonite and has been done. This is essentially a ditch trail and the fastest way north, been busy riding HCSA trails all weekend and could not post! Welcome back gobills !! barberch pm me if you need more info LIVIN'
livin' on the b103
forgot to mention the B112 north of Minden and the 9 to Gooderham are slated to be packed this week, these are the only trails not yet open. LIVIN'
Viperules700
Thanks for the update on trail 4. HCSA is definantly improving things over past years. They even groomed some of the ditch going down to sir SAMs this year too, instead of running the road the whole way. Will make a difference later in the season. Viperules700
if you're talking about the bushwolf lake road, they've been grooming the hydro cut for as long as I can remember. The road run right in front of sir SAMs. They have signs saying it is new and groomed the trail in the ditch. It was moguled out, but it is there if you don't want to run the road! The new owner is a sledder and club volunteer so that could be why. Will have to check it out!
4489 Pine Point
Thanks for noticing the Bushwolf Lake Road, south end ditch B Trail. About 6 weeks ago after many loads of gravel plus several days of excavator time and tree felling, this lead to the improvement on the south section that officially moved the trail off the road bed. When Hydro and Bell finish a couple of details, this Grant funded project will be complete and we can groom in both directions. Thanks to Dysart et al for approving HCSA to construct a trail within the surveyed road allowance. All but a short jog onto the road, this improved portion of trail was groomed both Saturday and Sunday. There are other HCSA trail system Grant funded improvement clues out there, can you spot them?
