Earn Club Ca$h, set World Record while Snowmobiling

Recommended Posts

YES, EVERYTHING IN THE TOPIC TITLE IS 100% TRUE !

Check out Science Hill Drifters snowmobile club on facebook, for more specifics.

The gist of it is, the 3 clubs who have the most snowmobiles in our Parade on Feb 8 will receive $500 for first, $300 for second, and $200 for third for your individual clubs if we set the mark of 821 snowmobiles in the parade.

There will be a form to fill out ahead of time online or print it out and fill it in by hand and bring it the day of to register.

The course is just shy of 10 km in length and will not be on any OFSC trail.  (This way, non permitted sleds such as vintage sleds will be able to participate as well)

The snowmobiles will travel slowly at a speed of about 20 km per hr because to set the record they are required to be approximately 2 metres apart.  There are no road crossings at all.  All snowmobiles must be insured.   The route will start and end at our clubhouse. Various parking locations will be available nearby, but not at our clubhouse.

The OFSC are aware of this event and offer their full support of it as a club fundraiser.  There will be a media presence.

We currently have snow, but our trails are not listed as open.  We hope that this will change so that many can ride to the event.  We are making a course of just under 10 km using the farms neighboring our clubhouse.   For liability purposes the course will be dismantled the day after the event.  The entrance fee is $10 per snowmobile.  We anticipate the entire parade to take about half an hr.  Registration begins at 9am and the parade will commence at 11am.

Hope to see you there so you can be part of history !   (if you have further questions, please check on facebook.  Its just easier to manage than individual responses)

More details have been posted to our website for the Guinness World Record attempt at http://sciencehilldrifters.com/gwr.htm and http://sciencehilldrifters.com/.

And we've opened a few trails on a Limited basis. With snow in the forecast we might be able to open the remaining trails soon, and have our neighbouring clubs open theirs too.

Just met with some of our club guys today, and it was decided that we will be opening some trails on a limited status probably tomorrow or Friday (I hope we get the snow that is being called for tomorrow.  Some snow is also forecasted for Sunday).  We easily have as much base as our neighboring clubs who are  just slightly north of us.  They have been open for a couple of weeks now and are likely getting thin.

This will help with our steak bbq this Saturday, as some will now be able to ride to it.

Also will help on Sunday Feb 8 for riding to world record attempt for the over 300 who have already confirmed via facebook that they plan to attend.

I'm sure some of them were panning  to truck and trailer to our staging venues that should be announced in the next few days.

If each brings 2 friends, we will easily surpass the record.  This sounds promising because no likes or should ride alone.

Local radio station BX93 will on site for the record attempt.  Aerial photography has also been arranged.

Lots of prizes continue to be donated, which we greatly appreciate.  Thanks to Inglis Cycle and Fast Trac performance for joining.  And a giant shout out to MacIntosh Power Sports for donating what I was told is the same thing as a Go Pro Camera but apparently better and includes wrist video and controls or something to that effect.  ( I should know this as I was just told today, but I'm not techy at all.  Those who knew what it was were very impressed though)

Lots of snow out there all over Ontario folks.  Why not ride from home, or truck and trailer part way and drop.  Come and help us take the world record away from the USA and put it where it belongs in CANADA!

Bring the most sleds from your ofsc club and claim $500 1st,  $300 2nd  and $200 3rd and know that you helped in this at the same time.  (if we set a new record....need 821 sleds)

Check out Science Hill Drifters on Facebook for all details including parking.

tonnes of door prizes and an all around good time.

This Sunday.  Best to register ahead of time.  Ride starts to move at 11am, so plan ahead.

Everything you could want to know can be found by going to Science Hill Drifters website

http://www.sciencehilldrifters.com/

best to print off your registration form and bring it completed the day of.. Parking locations can also be found there.

Lots of buzz by the clubs in the district. the challenge is on by many of the clubs as they want the $500, $300 or $200 for their club if we set a new record.

Almost 1000 likes / followers now on Facebook  about 400 on facebook said they're coming and several large groups arranging group rides to the event in addition.  I mention this to plan for extra time to ride to the event.  Lots of media will be on site and some very good door prizes including a WASP camera with wrist video, snowmobile suits, plenty of garb, oil etc

Private food vendors will be on site as well.  Little Caesars for one is bringing in lots of free pizza.

And watch the Interactive Trail Guide as some trails are about to go Green.. (Yes , it is due to snow coverage....we have done well this past while.....it is NOT false statement in the hopes of attracting more riders)

Hope to see many OC ers there passing out stickers.
