Blake G
Here's a post made by McKay68 on Hard Core Sledder yesterday: "The "C" trail (railbed) in Tiny township from the 13th concession to the elmvale town line has been closed down. This trail is used to get to and from wasaga beach, Barrie, elmvale, wyevale, hillsdale etc. I'm just curious to know if anyone has any idea if this trail is going to be rerouted or if there is no plans for an alternative, which I hope is not the case." Just wondering if anyone has a bit more insight on this? In a subsequent post, McKay68 said he witnessed the OFSC signs being removed from the trail. 02Sled
If not mistaken that is the stretch of trail where there have been a number of serious snowmobile accidents over the past couple of years with if I recall correctly a couple of people losing their lives. Long flat and pass a number of houses. That route normally sees an awful lot of traffic. The alternate route is not nice to get to Elmvale... all around your elbow to get to your thumb
Blake G
From pntydrpr on Hard Core Sledder: "I just got word from a local. He says its closed as of december 1st for atvs. And they will not be aloud on them next yr. But still open for sleds" Let's hope pntydrpr's rumour is the true one..... extreme600
OMG I really hope the last post is accurate. We use that trail quite often.
Reved
The club in Tiny Township is the Georgian Bay Snowriders and they should be contacted for accurate information. I have not heard any issues in Springwater Township which is the Sno Voyageurs.
02Sled
just checked their website and no mention of it being closed. Hope it is truly open this winter.
Viperules700
just checked their website and no mention of it being closed. Hope it is truly open this winter. Lets hope since that is a major trail! Without it, all of the side loops would suck.
Canuck
It isn't any 'faster' than other trails. Lots of police presence and speeds are kept down. Didn't hear anything when talking to local sledders this fall. I do recall that motorcyclists (not allowed) were being aggressively ticketed this summer. If bags are over signs then a closure may not be written in stone.
Yukon
Careful, guys. Just got to Balm Beach. "No motorized vehicle" signs are up. Many signs have 'burlap" bags over them. Pls look into this. I'm asking around.C is closed from Elmvale to Balm beach. The township didnt want to sign a standard LUP and either sides were unable to reach an agreement. 309 may become alternate C for the interim. More to the story but im not getting into it online. .. MXZRIDER
I am happy to report that Tiny Township has signed a one year agreement with the Georgian Bay Snowriders for use of the abandoned rail trail for this season. It is also true that ATV's are no longer allowed on this trail as Tiny Township passed a bylaw to that effect. Blake G
Thank you for the update MXZRIDER. A lot of us were worried about that section due to the rumours. Is there anything we as sledders should be doing differently to ensure continued access?
