Wondering if there are any places to ride around this weekend before the rain hits? (If it does) Good areas? I know no trails are open but itching to use my (new for me) sled. Any ideas comments or suggestions? Or should i just wait?

What about something like this?

– Seguin Trail

This 80 km section is the best known section of the Park to Park trail network. Following the historic route of the Ottawa, Arnprior & Parry Sound Railway (later part of the Canada Atlantic Railway) built by J.R. Booth, this section of trail stretches from just west of Highway 400 to the Wall’s Junction where the trail splits. This section of trail is one of the more adventurous segment, with a rough, dirt surfacing and the occasional puddle. This section of trail is owned and managed by the Park to Park Trail Association.

Trail Head: Georgian Bay Travel Centre (Highway 400 exit 214) and Sprucedale.

Amenities: Food, fuel and washrooms are available at both trailheads, with direct trail access.

Parking: At the Georgian Bay Travel Centre, there is a large, paved parking lot with lots of room for trailers and an off-road ramp that connects the PetroCan to the trail. In Sprucedale, food and gas are accessible on the trail.

Ideal Uses: ATV/UTV, Horseback, Cycling and through-hiking

I heard a rumour that there might be some high water in places on the Seguin. Not sure though.

This afternoon I rode on a Town of Gravenhurst road to the point where the plow turns around. I proceeded past that point and was instantly faced with snow too deep for my machine. I was lucky to be able to turn around and retreat. Meanwhile, as of a few minutes ago, many of the plowed backroads were fine for traveling, because a base of ice and snow remains after the plow passes. I expect this condition will persist until it thaws tomorrow.

Today at 930 I arrived at the Haliburton Forest for the first time and met Nunz and Infernobuster. Conditions were very good. No grooming yet, but they had about fifteen miles of trails that had seen snowmobiles when I left there before noon. Many kilometres of trails were still untouched, or at least they were when I left. We were sledders 4, 5 and 6 for the day. I called the Forest office around 4 o'clock to ask some questions - - one was, How many sledders did you see today? Answer: about twenty, but lots of people are booking for tomorrow. They open tomorrow at 8 a.m. and have a daily limit of one hundred sleds. I bet conditions will be pretty good for the first two or three hours - - but could deteriorate throughout the day. They are charging 25 bucks right now because they are not yet grooming.

Hire a licenced trapper to remove the beavers and pull apart the dam.

The beavers typically get relocated sort of. The amount of water in the woods after the last two months of heavy and constant rain is amazing and is complicating things to say the least

I didnt ride on it but it was listed as limited on the interactive trail guide. I believe it to be a raised railway that hold the snow..

isn't that what they call sled porn... pictures like that may be just as enticing to a snowmobiler at this time of year as a playboy centre fold

Leaf you must be talking about the Sledjunk Snow/grass Nationals held on his back yard and parking on the front yard.

Starts with snow drags then we drag on the grass that quickly becomes mud.

Its held on the same day the Pefferlaw river trail( H1) opens. Thats the best way to get to Sledjunks and make a quick getaway too.

See you there ...lets hope for no frost in his yard...lol :poke2:
