Iron skillet in Kearney

IronSkillet

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone.

So some of you may or may not have heard that the Iron Skillet has been shut down, or was closed, or went out of business.

Well we have re opened the doors after a lot of issues, with a new massive septic system, a handicap washroom that is all of 6" wider, and smiling faces.

We are open, and reopened with a boom. We are in the midst of obtaining our liquor license, and planning the expansion. But none the less, we are open, and never shutting down again. The expansion will be seeing light in the coming year, and we are extremely happy to have all of you guys come check out the joint.

It is alittle spot for the time being, but we are working on an expansion plan to accommodate all you sled heads..

We would love your support this season, to help us expand for the next.

If someone could link us up to the chief/cap-e-tan/bawss of this site to plan some ad placement and sponsorship we would be greatful.

See you all this season in Kearney...

If it's a hot spot for Chef Michael Smith.. It should be alright!

I dropped in today, and asked if I was the first sledder of the season. Martin said I was disqualified because I had put the Cat back into the truck - - so the honour of being the first sledder is still up for grabs.

In any event, I had a delicious bowl of home-made chowder with cheddar biscuits, some mini butter tarts and a great doughnut. Even without going sledding, the Iron Skillet is worth the drive to Kearney.

Here are some of today's photos.

Martin with number one staffer Kelly in the background.

See that big pile of mini butter tarts for sale on the left, and the little pile in my black take out container on the right? The piles were equal sized by the time I left.

Also the under-priced menu (taxes and sides are included)

and today's lunch (including the 12 mini buttertarts and 2 dougnuts that I took home.)

I bought a dozen. My daughter stayed over at a friend's house last night. I said "take a couple of those mini butter tarts." She took them all.

I suggest we embark upon a pilgrimage to Kearney.

I can see a commercial like the one for M&M's whjere I think the guy is Russian... saying M&M's for everyone.... except this will be Blake saying butter tarts for everyone.

The most impotant question.... did they have raisins, pecans or just plain. They just aren't any good unless they have rasins.

  Different deserts everyday.

we like to play around, so sometimes it'll be an array of fresh made donuts, tarts, pies.  Today we made brioche cinnamon buns, but they are almost gone.  Shortbreads are in the oven now.

if you check our facebook page (iron skillet custom catering) or our website ironskillet.ca which has a live fb feed on the front page, you'll see what is on the menu on a day to day basis.

Cheers

Martin

Hey there Giddy ! Welcome back for another great season. Maybe SlowTouringGal and I will get back down your way again this winter and connect on snow. Let's hope things are as good as last year!

PS.....if STGal can't make the trip, maybe you can send hubby to Bobcaygeon for a loaf of bread while you give me a tour of the hot tub! <naughty grin>
