Heather Lodge on 35 between Carnarvon and Minden has new owners. Can't speak to the accomodations but we went there for dinner the other night and were very impressed with the meal. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good meal at a reasonable price.

The new hotels are actually a Hampton Inn & a Homewood Suites by Hilton.

Are they near the trails?  IIRC, the only lodgings near the trail are on the very outskirts of town.

That's good news! Thanks.

I'd love to hear that Laurentian Lodge is open in the winter again too.

At our district meeting we were told that Flame Lake Lodge will not be open this season, but Gary will continue to help out with the grooming.

Dunlop Lake Lodge is where we start/end. Hoping to do the Snow Train north from Sault Ste. Marie this year, and a volunteer at the Sled Show suggested that I drive to Elliot Lake; sled to Sault Ste. marie, hop on the train with sleds, get off in the north (knock knock, Luc) and continue North / East then back south.

Love the trails around Elliot Lake.

(too bad about Flame Lake Lodge closing for the season)

That a great spot. Too bad nobody seams to be able to keep it going. I haven't been there since Doug and Dianne owned it, about 10 years ago now.

Love riding that area.
