Dirtbag
A little birdie told me port carling mactier area just got tons of snow. Friends are riding in 12 inches of powder right now. Great news for the trails in the next few days once the club gets a chance to work their magic

mgooding
Tons of snow??? Why are the trails limited?
Viperules700
Tons of snow??? Why are the trails limited? Cause thier is so much snow, you need to have a long track 2 stroke to get thru. 4 stroke guys do the trail reporting.
Canuck
We rode Parry Sound - Kearney - Birk's Falls - Parry Sound this weekend. Snow squalls on the way up Sat and the way down Sun. Saw 3 groomers - one at the start of the Seguin (south of Parry Sound); the other at Silversands Resort (Kearney) and the third on the far side of Sand Lake (leaving Kearney). Kudos to them for trying - it made a difference. Georgian Bay is more of a factor this season. There was noticeably more snow in the Parry Sound area and it was snowing when we left (Sunday). Folks out east (Birk's Falls, Kearney) are expecting snow on Thursday.
sledjunk
We drove through heavy snow on the way through there Friday night and again last night. Almost white out conditions.
Dirtbag
Tons of snow??? Why are the trails limited? Limited because the rain and melt made them horrible up until last Friday night. The fresh snow looks pretty, but until it gets groomed and packed down by the club it is just fresh powder snow on top of a glare ice base...quite dangerous actually... Canuck
it is just fresh powder snow on top of a glare ice base...quite dangerous actually... I did two 360 degree turns in those conditions one year. It was fun, until the ride stopped. Lots of glare ice in the valleys, folks. South side of most hills up towards Kearney are glare ice as well. For some reason, coming from the north, we were fortunate to only ride down the ice sheets. 02Sled
Tons of snow??? Why are the trails limited? very narrow band streamer off the bay. Just south of there no snow, just north of there no snow. Updates to the guide are not instantaneous or automatic. A volunteer has to make an update and the snow didn't happen until overnight Friday and Saturday morning.

irREVerent
going on 10 inches now and now sign of it letting up velo, where are you located in Muskoka? Perhaps in the south end of the district near Gravenhurst? We're in north Muskoka just outside (east of) urban Huntsville, and our new snow from this storm is 5" to 6" tops. Believe me, I'm NOT complaining...just find it interesting that snowfall amounts can vary so much within the same district from the same big storm system (i.e. this is not lake-effect snow where streamers can be very localized.) 2bsledding
How hard did Muskoka get hit? Gravenhurst area got hit really good as well. It's still coming down.
