  1. Always has been good, when lake is solid. Otherwise you have to run road which then I would prefer deerhurst, but since north trail is gone, south access has roads too. You can't win now. Hopefully this gets resolved in future.
  2. That is bang on what I get for a 137" track on 900. Etec about 2 litres per hundred better. Doo over stated fuel economy numbers on 900 or test rider rode it in Eco mode across artic ocean at 40 km/hr to get mileage doo states. Range is typically around 75 km's less then etec I find.
  3. I would be interested in it too for comparison sake. Now 900 is fixed so I will have to run it side by side again. Average last time I looked at it was around 12 to 13 litres per hundred and etec was 10. I was told four strokes don't back shift as efficantky as a two stroke. Here in south we stop allot.
  4. Little hawk still open. That place was packed last year too? Had great music and stopped in for a few drinks on a Friday night. It was a short session maybe 4 weeks last year for lakes anyways.
  5. Been a tough year. Both of these places have been struggling last few years it seems.
  6. Hoping for a good march for a change. Looks like have to go a fair ways up to drop now.
  7. Hopefully don't get rained out. Saturday might be ok who knows. Looks like temps will stay down after next Monday.
  8. So maybe after next warm up spell and fresh snow, could drop in Lions head and ride to tub and back? The gas station there has stage parking available.
  9. Thanks so next mild spell hitting next weekend is going to be knife in coffin for a few weeks? Wait and see what happens. Sucks.
  10. Soo Facebook site say's clubs are out packing some trails. Cold this week should help swamps and wet area's. Be abit before any touring is available. Poor conditions to north i can't see it getting better in time for a New Years ride.
  11. Soo doesn't look promising either. I am sure mild weather took away some base in past week and washouts north of town need cold and snow to fix, before grooming can begin. I only see town trail open. If you want good Canadian conditions I would go to Hearst. You can use your buddy as a stop over on way over. Companion motel is a great spot to stage and stay from. You can go to west way in cochrane stay over night about 300 Km's one way, stop in at moon beam for a snack and check out their trails. Also go to hornepayne and or ride local Hearst and kap trails. You will get some good miles on no doubt.
  12. The lake view motel in hailburton is a nice option when pinestone is full. Could 't get. Into pinestone on family day weekend, so we tried lake view. They have a goat trail access from the main trail that comes into head lake, which is better then running the road. Easy gas access down the side of the road to independent. Was snow on the side of the road that night. The rooms were really nice and staff was friendly. Was a very quite place to stay and sleep. Will return again. They do have some space for truck and trailer parking, but it isn't the easiest place to navigate, if you have a rig and depending on how full top lot is.
  13. Could be some big rebates coming soon with the weather. Skidoo has increased theirs recently on left over models. Maybe you can do what 02 did, make a deal and pick it up in October. Good luck. In mean time could rebuild the viper or part it out, depending on damage.
  14. I would just get the 5000 and trade the sled in 4 or so years. Get rid of it by 10,000kms. Not much work required and better resale value. Which it is over 10,000km's doesn't really matter what it is, the value will tank.
  15. I heard some trails are completely gone from mild weather.
  16. That was the year the food was horrible at edge water and you had a drama show at sliverstands (because I recommend you go there).
  17. Well she was almost 90 and was cheaper to park at pine stone and sled over then to pay someone to plow out the bottom parking area. The house is gone now and she is in nursing home at end of park street now. Kind of sad, if I had more vacation time I would have bought the property. pine stone guys never turned me away and there were other people pulling in two and asking if they could park for the rap. Never seen anyone turned away, they just charge a fee (10 bucks a day roughly) Haven't been there for a few years so I will ask again soon and see what the fee is.
  18. Pine stone is great for trailering parking too. Left my rig there several times for a modest fee. I wasn.t even staying there, family never ploughed out my parking spot in town. Food has always been good, when I have gone for supper :-).
  19. Bear's den has been getting good reviews from a few members of this forum. I am sure it isn't Anything fancy but it is in a fantastic location on missing link system and close to gas and beer store, with a direct trail going to it. I would consider it if in area. Quality inn also gives a snowmobilers discount which is nice. They just gave it to us when we walked in to see if white dragon had taken last room.
  20. Cedar gables in bonifield along with dinner bell are both good and keeps you away from north bay. They both have good food and camp conwago is back open again. Will report in a few weeks, once I ride the area again. Pettawa has quality inn right off the A trail and Kelsey's is across the street. People are also saying bear den in deep river is good! Also sliver sands in Kearney if edge water is full (mixed reports about that place, but food has always been good and it is clean and tidy) hailburton has the pine stone on trail 7 and Kennis lake lodge down the lake from hail burton forest is a nice spot, if you are taking trail 11 (lake route by passing hailburton).
  21. Is the new gas bar and Tim Hortons open on the Blyth corner yet, where the old shell station and restaurant was? Went by this summer and construction was under way! Be great if it is ready for winter season.

  23. You should have gotten them to buy the whole place !
  24. Also dinner bell is a great starting, stoping spot because of lots of trailer parking. If you have four days you can explore part of north bay system as well. I have done that and enjoyed it especially nb308 is nice. Cedar gables is an option too, great hosts. I ended up coming back late one night and stopped in there for a few drinks and a bite to eat. The owner is a great host and helps bonifield snowmobile club. They have trailer parking as well.
  25. If you can I would suggest you make it a four day tour. Can do some side trails in certain area's to add to a day. For instance I live exploring the ice caves near Kearney. Usually adds an hour to the day going in and out of there. If I was going to do it again, I would start in Kearny most likely. I would stay in hailburton area the first night. Bonnie view in or pine springs good choice. Lots of different trails to ride on the way over. If the lake run is open instead of taking B into town from Dorset I would do that trip. Ride thru ox narrows is awesome if available. Second night I would stay in pembroke most likely, pettawa great choice too, if you have time to ride farther. Next day I would stay in mattawa And golf and ski excellent choice. You can ride allot of great trails on east side and have a fantastic day. Last days you can take your time and ride the great A112A I believe it is up thru top end instead of the A and go to dinner bell using bf201 or portage for a bite to eat, before handing back to Kearny. I would avoid the road on the D trail and go farther west, if it is warm and no snow on roads. This will add few hours to the trip back another reason I like four days. Good luck!
