  7. The lakes look like they should tighten up pretty good with the next cold snap. Solo aint a bad day in the bush! I spent a week all over Algoma by myself once in the fall. Rained almost the whole time. .

  10. You had to say that. Maybe I should buy a rain suit so I could ride with you. Fingers crossed that the snow will hold and setup to allow an early start to season.

  12. Black Creek Outfitters - Part II I prepared this video as a dedication to our dearest friends Susan and Mike. Thoughts are with you during this very difficult time. Wishing peace and tranquility for Mom. During my trip on Sunday, I branched off in 3 directions to scope out the area. This is my video of the left side of highway 129 on the D106 Trail heading south towards the Rapid River Bridge. There was no one up there except me and the moose. A great day to be away from city life and enjoy the remote beauty.

  13. Signfan we did NB in 2018. Picture below is our Spot tracks from Gaspe in 2017, NB 2018. Gaspe was 5 days riding 1,600 km. NB 5 days riding 1,900 km We will definitely go back to NB, doing Gaspe again this winter, likely back to NB 2021. NB is not quite as scenic as the Gaspe but still great riding. NB is fast, mostly logging roads and park roads. Gaspe lucky to average 50 kmph moving average on the GPS. In NB think moving average was 65-70 kmph couple days. So averaged 400 km per day vs 300 for Gaspe. NB was cruising at speed like you would in western Quebec, except instead of being flat and straight you are always going up and down and around wide sweeping curves so you have to be engaged. Makes it fun. We started in Edmunston, rode to Bathurst first day, spend 2 nights at Danny’s Hotel. Atlantic host is the other popular hotel in Bathurst. Did a day loop from Bathurst out to the east to the ocean. Believe call that the Acadian coast. Next time would skip that ride. Main trail is an old rail bed, lots of driveways to slow down for, flat and not much to see. Next day south to Maramichi, then headed west and Spend 2 nights in Riley Brook at the Bears Liar hunt camp. From there we rode south down to Hartland which has the long covered bridge, think something like 1,300 feet long. Beautiful country and riding down in that area. Then back up to Edmunston to complete our loop. Next time we go will likely start from Rivière du Loop or someplace in Quebec then ride south into NB making Moose Valley Lodge first night stop. There’s several lodges in the mid part of the loop, I would need a map in front of me to refresh memory of the names and possible itinerary. Gas wasn’t an issue but you have to hit the spots mid province, usually gas at the lodges. Northern NB is remote, really not much there except logging and moose hunting so you need to be packing safety gear, tools etc. lf you have already done the Gaspe and most of Quebec then NB is a great trip.

  14. I have to ask the question thats on everyone's mind. Someone in the computer world on here, tell me WHY?, each and every year theres problems with the online maps. And how come Quebec's site seem to work pretty darn good, and you can he damn sure they update etc each year, so they cant use that excuse. Im pretty tech savy, but if theres anyone in the computer world can give a good answer.

  15. Gotta get all my old 35mm slides converted. I have SO many, I may have to sell one of the grandchildren to pay for it. But there is sure a lot of family history rotting away in dozens and dozens of Carousels !

  17. Black Creek Outfitters While up at Black Creek Outfitters yesterday, I ran part way down the Wakomata Wilderness route, scoping this out as a potential winter challenge. Came to a swamp that is only partially frozen. Hope to re-visit this winter with Chad and Ray and their long-track sleds.

  19. Maybe in future one free day, would be a good promotion. Quebec is still doing it this year so they must see a benefit too it. Ofsc needs to bring in day passes in my opinion. Not everyone wants to ride a min of two consecutive days. With online system should be no issue to sell day passes too.

  20. If it's Crown land, who does it bother? I've been brushing and clearing the section of trail I did today, for several years. Today was the first time as an official club volunteer. Is there any difference? Its crown land so No. Anyone and their dog can ride them (in fact 2 sleds with 3 hunters were on the trails today, and 2 weeks ago too). Hydro may have a different perspective on the subject, but anywhere else is free pass.

  22. I've done the Wakamatta trip on ATV's many years ago. That's some big country back in there. Not been through in the winter yet. The pics tho remind me of a day that we took the hydro line along 101 through The Shoals park. Stumps all must be cut to 3' tall! It was a mine field! At one point my chum with his Pol was running point, and I was following, picking our way through one of the mine fields.... My chum made a hard turn, and I pulled mine over hard to make the 90* turn, to only have pulled it over too hard, and actually fell off / stopped on the dime. Trouble was that it wasn't a dime, but rather an old rotten stump hiding flush with the snow that my ribs landed on. It was a small stump, and it broke away, so it likely could have been worse. Must'a cracked a couple as they made sure that I remembered that stump daily for the next few months. We haven't been back through there since. Kind'a holding that off 'till one of those REALLY epic snow years - maybe.... Or maybe we can try it when we are really old(er) and maybe the stumps will be mostly rotted away by then? I was told that they cleared that area in the winter is why the stumps are so tall through there. This pic taken from that day, right next to the hwy. I think my chum bent that trailing arm right there, so can't really blame it on the mine fields out on the hydro, but .... Pic shows him ready to call Gordy in Wawa to see if he's open and has any trailing arms on the say phone. He did have an arm, but no rad rods for the RMK, and we ended up having to head home. .
