  3. Luv My Viper and I will go on to address conspiracy theories. Staring with ..... Why does the Interactive Guide direct all snowmobile traffic to Dubreaulville, Ontario? Want to go from Port Severn to Parry Sound? "Via D'ville", of course. I like the sound of it - "via Dubreaulville". Great hearing from you, Luc. Sorry I missed the podcast.

  7. I use Polaris stickers on the trailer, it usually keeps them away! Seriously, I lock the hitch with a padlock, same with the lid on the trailer. Just enough to make it a PITA for the thieves.

  8. I'm not sure what the reasons are ... I think arrogance and/or ignorance play a part. One must think that if you own a restaurant and/or motel up here, a relatively isolated area (talking anywhere North of Kirkland Lake or New Liskeard for example) people travelling are more than likely to do the legwork of researching their destinations for food, fuel, accomodations, garages, etc on their own time. Perhaps it hasn't occurred to the business owners to make the connection and contact the OFSC (or Google) to have their establishments added to the maps. It might be as simple as sending an e-mail, I'm not aware what one would have to do in order to get added. If someone on here that's in the know can give me simple and direct instructions on how to have their business added to the OFSC map, I might consider preparing a generic e-mail for all the fuel/food/accomodation/repair establishments with instructions on how to have their businesses included, if they should desire.

  11. The Town of Uxbridge has graciously allowed us to open up the rail bed giving us access to Main St North once again. Standard Aggregates has donated belts needed to protect the Historic Train Trestle Bridge and we need manpower to help roll out and install this belt. Please join us at the Trestle Bridge in Uxbridge at 9:00 am Sat Nov 9th. Let’s gets this trail open!

  15. New here but I know some of you in real life. I live near Wiarton and sled around this area as well as over to Sundridge/North Bay/Huntsville or wherever there is snow.

  16. X2 I keep them in the center console of the ruck, then take them out before the trip home. Mine is just a tongue and receiver pin lock, as I have an open trailer.

  17. I only put the locks on once we get to our destination, eliminates all the slush and freezing up that is bound to occur travelling.

  18. Education is key. If that fails, the local government has to jump in. What I notice on the Quebec side, the routes from the trails to the pumps and restaurants and scenic spots are WELL looked after. LOTS of signage. Snow is moved during the shoulder seasons to ensure that people will not damage their sleds on the way to spending their money. If a business owner is too thick to understand that those noisy wallets on skis and tracks are the key to prosperity, they either need to step aside or maybe be coerced into understanding by the local and beyond levels of government who WILL benefit. If one gas station owner is non-compliant, all the other small businesses in the area may suffer. When viewed on a larger scale, such as the Quebec model, this becomes very apparent.

  21. Same trick as last year still works.. change the parameters of your browser to be the approx size of a cell phone (i.e. a long rectangle) then open up the ITG. The dimesions make it think you're on a phone. Then you can maximize the window and the side bar stays gone.

  22. Every year I have been the guy that buys the pass on the last day of the discount (Nov 1st). Two years I got caught in that system issue that took two weeks to resolve..I knew they would fix it but still had me a bit worried. This year I actually did it. Ordered the passes on the first day they were available. Funny thing is last week I still remember thinking I need to order the trail passes until I remembered I already did it! LOL

  23. Yes, very well. Gravel and grass no problem as long as it's not too deep or thick. Ge great for around the house and for loading and unloading from the trailer.

  25. As far as I know, solicitation for spots on the ITG happens at the same time as the District Administrator solicits for the District Trail Guide. Getting the ITG updated for our district has been an issue for a few years now for reasons I won't get into. Most businesses up here don't see the point in spending dollars for ads. One gas station refuses to pay for advertising because "the snowmobiles come here anyway"....on a trail groomed by their local club. The highway and ditches through Kap have been re-done and when the club approached the town about filling one remaining deep spot, the response was "f*** the tourists". Seriously. We're grooming our trails as best we can for ALL riders, locals and visitors, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're being supported in what we're doing.
