  2. Most of the time, the isn't anything available to use to clean it up. No broom, no firewood/kindling/matches available to light the stove. If its available, I use, bring an armload of firewood in etc... Be careful who you accuse of not doing their part. I'm vice Pres of our club, cook at every wing night, and stake 8 km of field trail every year.

  3. Let's just say the place needs some work. I'm not being critical, I've been all over Ontario and appreciate all the work that goes into keeping sledders happy and the trails open.Without some major money put into that place the roof will cave in.Literally.I will say Sean is a great guy and puts his heart and soul into that place.

  4. I saw a beautiful log house with a slick looking off grid system consisting of solar and wind turbines in Cochrane. At the price they were asking I would be mortgage free and figure you could get some supplemental income from sledders. Wife put a damper on that real quick!

  5. Someone's fussin' b/c it's a bush facility? (amazingly) I haven't been there yet since Sean has taken over - at least not when he was there .... Maybe Steve took too many stuffed animals home with him? The albino martin? The bear rug that's on the wall? (which previously tore THROUGH the kitchen wall!) Not sure if he ever got a beaver mounted?

  6. I stopped in there last year with my son and the grandchildren. There was some locals there. (ex Home Hardware owner). I pointed out the burning wood stove to the kids. Opened the lid so they could see the fire and told stories of how I had to light the fire in the old cook stove we had in our farm house and how my mother used to cook on it sometimes when the power was out. It was a good education for them. Then they just wanted to get on the sleds again.

  7. It's never needed any cleaning when I've been there. It is not owned or maintained by the club. The landowner cleans it daily and makes sure the fire is going if someone hasn't already started it.

  8. Very sad. There will be more stories like this in the near future. Everyone wants to "ride" but nobody wants to "do". Hope their General Meeting goes well.
